This design is a welcoming environment for employees and visitors and an initial and long-term resource conserving, sustainable landscape. Trees are used to define circulation patterns and to offer shade and wind deflection. Massed plantings of low shrubs and groundcovers define circulation patterns for pedestrians, offer seasonal blooms and maintain clear site lines. To reduce costs, large areas are seeded with native grasses and perennials. All of the plant species are drought adapted and low maintenance and primary plants such as the Tecate Cypress, Torrey Pine and Blue Palo Verde are native to California. The project incorporates latest GSA standards for resource conserving irrigation design.
